GREEN SQUAD

The Sainte-Catherine Green Brigade is a project that unites dozens of participants, a project manager, and the residents and shopkeepers of Sainte-Catherine Street. From late spring to early fall, teams crisscross Sainte-Catherine Street with the aim of making it cleaner and friendlier for everyone! The Brigade works in three areas:

- Cohabitation

Living together means occupying common spaces with respect for other users, without ownership or hierarchy. This project aims to break down prejudices against people who frequent Dopamine and to enhance the value of the work carried out during the brigades. In addition, the Brigade’s presence on the street generates a number of community exchanges and discussions with the residents of Sainte-Catherine Street, helping to reduce the negative perceptions of marginalized people.

- Cleanliness

With cleanliness at the heart of its mission, the Green Brigade criss-crosses the main thoroughfare of Sainte-Catherine, making it cleaner and more attractive. The Brigade cleans up any litter left behind, and raises awareness with members of the community they meet.

- Environmental Impact

The greening of Sainte-Catherine Street aims to combat heat islands, as well as aiding to purify the ambient air. In addition, the Brigade adds flowers and plants to residents’ and shopkeepers’ tree patches to make the street more green and lively.
